Complaint: My wife and I shared a checking account with Citizens bank. In early XX/XX/2019 my wife passed away. She had previously authorized Citizens Bank to withdraw automated payments of {$16.00} per month with a Vendor named XXXX, as I recall. ( Note : I was not involved in this commitment at all ). I went to Citizens Bank several times over the past few months, first with her death certificate to have them stop these withdrawals, yet they continued to take the money from my bank account every month. They suggested I take her name off the account, which I didn't do as this would have messed up the Social Security deposits. Recently, I went in to close the account and they told me that if the {$16.00} withdrawal requests continued to come to the bank, they would have no option but to reopen the account and charge me for these unauthorized withdrawals. Meanwhile, they have already withdrawn 4 payments that were not authorized. Its bad enough that I've had to deal with the passing of my wife, having this added stress is so disrespectful, discourteous and heartless. Note : I relocated to XXXX XXXX, CO and wanted this resolved before I moved, however, they have refused to cooperate despite all my attempts the past several months.. Please also note, I am a Senior citizen, XXXX years old, retired and also a Veteran.

Complaint: XX/XX/XXXX : I purchased a car and used my current vehicle as a trade-in. When I attempted to turn in the title as part of the deal, I realized I never received the title. The vehicle has been paid off since XX/XX/XXXX. I called CITIZENS BANK ( the previous lienholder ) who said their 3rd party vendor, XXXX XXXX XXXX, was responsible for sending it. After being transferred to XXXX XXXX XXXX, they said CITIZENS BANK still hadn't released the electronic lien so they could not send the title. I called CITIZENS BANK again and now the CITIZENS BANK representative says they don't understand why XXXX XXXX XXXX reported that it was CITIZENS BANK 's responsibility, since XXXX XXXX XXXX is the company that sends out titles. I then call XXXX, as the car was purchased and titled in Pennsylvania. The DMV representative confirms that the electronic lien release has not been completed by CITIZENS BANK, however, they could independently verify in their system that the car was indeed mine and paid in full. The DMV representative said I had the option of completing some additional paperwork and paying an additional fee for a duplicate title, that would be completed once state offices reopened after the COVID shutdown. I did not feel it should be necessary for me to pay an additional fee for a title that I was still owed by CITIZENS BANK. So, I waited for XXXX offices to reopen so I could reengage with CITIZENS BANK once the title could actually be produced by XXXX. XX/XX/XXXX : I called CITIZENS BANK again. This time the representative says that a research department needed to get involved and complete an inquiry into what happened. I was given a turnaround time of 10 business days, and a reference number : XXXX. XX/XX/XXXX : About three weeks later, I called CITIZENS BANK since I hadn't received a response within the promised 10 business day turnaround. This time the representative says the first reference number ( XXXX ) was somehow lost and never assigned for action. I was told I would receive a response in 72 business hours and given reference number XXXX. XX/XX/XXXX : On the XXXX business day, I call CITIZENS BANK and the representative reports that the title had been mailed, although when asked they couldn't provide a tracking number. XX/XX/XXXX - After waiting about a week and a half, and still not having received the title in the mail or via any other courier service, I called CITIZENS BANK again. This time the representative says that the title was in fact, never sent, and that the prior reference number was still pending action/resolution. I was then given another reference number : XXXX. At this point, I escalated the issue to a supervisor, and was given reference number XXXX, and was told a member of the escalation team would reach out to me. Due to poor in-home cell reception, and calls received during work hours when I am unavailable via my cell phone, my only communication from CITIZENS BANK was via voicemails. On XX/XX/XXXX, I started receiving voicemails from XXXX ( phone number : XXXX ). For two weeks ( until XX/XX/XXXX ), she left messages with the same end result : the lien release hadnt been completed. I also gave her contact number to my car dealer so they could call, but it was to no avail, because neither of us could ever reach her on the phone, and any messages left were never returned. Finally, on XX/XX/XXXX, my car dealer contacts me and says without the title we dont own the car officially as part of this deal. The dealer tells me if we dont have the title for the car in a week from today, you will have to come retrieve your vehicle and repay the valuation given for your trade-in. After receiving this message, I call XXXX again, and left a voicemail relaying what I had been told by the dealer, and that she should have someone else call me first thing in the morning since she had proven ineffectual in resolving the issue to this point. That night, I also call the CITIZENS BANK customer service line ( XXXX ), and speak with XXXX, whom I ask to connect me with a supervisor. XXXX, the supervisor, is connected and about halfway through explaining my ordeal thus far, the phone is disconnected, he hangs up. I don't receive a return call. I decide that, regardless of whether I receive a return call from CITIZENS BANK on XX/XX/XXXX, I would have to make the 2-hour drive to XXXX, PA and pay the duplicate title fee of {$55.00} to XXXX to retrieve my title. I still called XXXX at XXXX on Friday, XX/XX/XXXX, multiple times but never received an answer. After receiving my title in about 10 minutes from the XXXX XXXX, I visit the nearest CITIZENS BANK branch location ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ) in downtown XXXX and speak with XXXX ( banker ) and XXXX XXXX ( manager ). After repeatedly telling me that there was nothing they could do since they dont handle CITIZENS BANK AUTO FINANCE issues in branches, they gave me the same customer service number that I had been hung up on the night before ( XXXX ). I told them I was no longer calling that number because I have been calling for months and have not had my issues resolved and the last time I called I was hung up on. I requested corporate office contact information for whichever department was responsible for electronic lien releases. Mr . XXXX told me that " if there was contact information for the corporate office, he didn't have it and wouldn't provide it ''. Which is utterly ridiculous, and a clear attempt to create a barrier for me to be able to contact a responsible party regarding these issues, and a way for everyone there to continue to claim a lack of accountability and responsibility for having this resolved. Finally, after I pressed the issue for a few more minutes, Mr . XXXX said the reference number XXXX had been escalated to the Office of the Chairman - which was the corporate office responsible for resolving my issue, although he still refused to provide a phone number or written documentation of the fact that it was even really escalated to that office. I was turned away and told that someone would call me. XX/XX/XXXX : On XX/XX/XXXX, I started receiving voicemails from XXXX from the Office of the Chairman of CITIZENS BANK ( phone number : XXXX ). She is now claiming that CITIZENS BANK attempted to release the lien 3 times in XXXX, and that XXXX is currently returning an error in their system when CITIZENS BANK tries to complete the electronic lien release, and that XXXX will only speak to the vehicle 's registered owner regarding this issue - so essentially CITIZENS BANK 's hands are now tied. As I stated earlier, the DMV never reported an issue with my title on any of the occasions I spoke with them or while I was in their office, and I was able to pick it up in 10 minutes. This is now a moot point as I have already suffered the inconvenience of having to drop everything and make the 4-hour round trip drive to pay for and retrieve my own title and hand deliver to the dealer. Today, as I write this, I have called XXXX twice, with no response. This is clearly part of their continued effort to not resolve this issue, since once we speak on their recorded phone lines it creates an electronic trail which serves as evidence of their negligence. At this point, I no longer wish to speak to anyone from this sham of a business, CITIZENS BANK. I only wish to : 1. File this complaint with the responsible regulatory authorities, so that my experience is recorded, and they are held responsible. 2. Be reimbursed for my gas for my outbound and inbound trips to XXXX, PA and for the additional cost of the duplicate title ( {$55.00} ) - unfortunately I can not get the time and energy back that I've wasted on this since XXXX. Please let me know if additional information is required.

CC service: I have contacted your customer service for Credit card assistance. The average wait is over 90 minutes. Recently a card was lost and I reported it and requested expedited replacement. Today is the day the card was supposed to arrive. I contacted customer service. It will arrive in 7 to 10 business days. Simply put, that is not service. Because of competition you closed our local branch and the nearest is 27 miles in one direction. After 30 plus years of business with your ever changing brand, it appears time to move to another bank.

What world Or more like what year is this Bank working in? Your going to send me a paper check ? A paper check in today's banking system ? You were able to electronically take the money from my account, But you somehow can't electronically put it back? You all know you owe it to me why should I have to Waite two weeks for you to send a check? and then 3 to 4 days in the snail mail Like USPS has gotten any faster. Again If your can take it in 30sec.or less why can't you return it in 30sec ?

This was the worst experience I have ever had with a bank I am trying to close my account and unable to. I will tell everyone to never open an account with citizen bank there customer service is terrible and no one calls you back. And word of mouth is everything. I am beyond angry now.

CAUTION: I am attempting to transfer monies OUT of Citizens and am NOW being told that you can only transfer $15K PER MONTH to another bank. I cannot believe this is legal and I am in the process of moving up the corporate ladder to get my money OUT

I am 72 yrs old and don't see well. I received a flyer in the mail about getting a $300 bonus if I deposited $200/mo for 3 months ($600 total). I went to the bank in Wadswoth Ohio with the advertisement and talked with the woman bank manager there. I asked her to review the fine print for me. She said "yes you'll get $300 if you deposit 200/mo for the next three months. SHE DID TELL ME I NEEDED TO HAVE A CHECKING ACCOUNT. I talked with the man counterpart because she was not working. He told me they would not pay the bonus. I offered to open a checking to get the bonus and he said that wouldn't work either. I think the woman manager should have stood up and admitted she was part of the situation and given me some sort of relief.

The transition for HSBC customers to Citizens has been a night mare. They are making their customers do all the switching of direct deposits, automatic payments, etc. They are USELESS and the most unhelpful group I have ever dealt with. If I could give them minus stars I would.

I have been locked out of our business account yesterday. I have called three different "Customer Service" numbers. I have been on hold for 90 minutes, 40 minutes ( and when rep picked up "couldn't hear me", though I could clearly hear them), and this current time for over 50 minutes. I also walked in to my local branch, but no one could help without an appointment... Next call is to Corporate. This is a very poor business model!

I opened checking account with Citizen's bank through the special promotion link that would pay me $300 if I set up direct deposit. I have completed my side of the contract but the bank continuously failed to keep up with the advertised promotion and did not deposit $300 in my account. I have contacted bank many times and was promised that I would see the credit deposited on certain dates but it did not happen, I am very unhappy with this situation as this is a false advertisement situation. I would not open the account if I knew that the bank would continuously lie to me, use my money, and would not keep up to their promises. In addition, customer service of this bank is terrible. No online support, chats take hours and get customers disconnected. Phone support takes hours. Transfers take much longer than they take with any other known banks. I need $300 deposited as promised and to be compensated $300 for my time and the fact is that you bank uses my money and locking funds for days.

New accounts have triggered an avalanche of daily Marketing emails. Attempt to contact Customer Service by phone, gave up after being on hold for 37 minutes. Local branch staff were excellent, but I am getting bad vibes from Corporate operations. No way to run any business, especially disturbing for a bank. PLEASE STOP ALL EMAILS, I will not do business long term with this annoyance.

Customer service sucks, called in 3 Saturdays in a row to report their banks closing before 12 noon with no return call or follow up. Citizens' bank hours of operation in Philadelphia sucks as they do not accommodate working people, no branch stays open until 6 pm for individuals the work 9 to 5. Saturdays the 4700 Frankford branch was closed at 11:40 am twice and the 3400 Aramingo was closed at 11:53pm when the are to stay open until 12 noon. I will be moving with my mortgage carrier Bank of America after 20 years of using citizens but during this Pandemic , they have not been customer friendly BOA stays open until 6 on Fridays and 1 pm on Saturday. They are more accommodating to their customers as well as being nation wide. Corporate needs to review their employees as they are going to cause you to lose more investments with their service.

800 922 9999 connects to Costa Rica where the person who speaks to you has a very poor grasp of english. I received another email that was clearly not from Citizens asking me to enter me personal data I needed to send this email to the fraud department was told there was no email address but gave me a phone number that was not operational and hung up on me . This is a disgrace.

I am in suspicious of people spreading rumors that My poetry and artwork was circulated all around the universe for sells of benefit. Inaddition people that work came into their jobs bragging and bosting about some guy which is me out there is selling is worth alot of money. As a result world Corporations benefited off my ideas in the quadrillions and they did it incognito so i would not bust them. Please have the money order watch with steps of extra security because my mail has been known to be stalked and taken in the region post office where i am from. This is the worst process I have ever gone through to process a mortgage application. I have had many mortgages in my life and this lender is SO bad they should lose their charter. As soon as the process is concluded I will be filing a formal complaint with the OCC and CFPB. Run, don’t walk, away from this bank. The epitome of ineptitude.

I opened my account about 8 yrs ago , it was a nice contact between 3 siblings . 6 yrs ago they closed the branch in my town . Now to make a deposit I must travel 50 miles . If a couple of your ATM's in my area could be updated so they would accept deposits , it would alleviate my predicament . {and increase your rating)

Bad bank. Their website says all mobile banking deposits drawn from Citizens accounts will be available the same business day. Upon depositing my check, it is being held for 3 business days. I have been on the phone with Citizen for 3 hours and NO ONE can give me a good answer. No provisional credit, nothing. Just waiting for the bank to clear my pay check when they get good and ready to.

Best Bank EVER. I have been with Citizens Bank for over 8 years, and I simply cannot say enough about this Bank; Their Customer Service is simply outstanding, along with their professionalism and understanding. Joined Citizens Bank with a promo offer of $300.00 for a checking account with a direct deposit within 60 days. Also opened a savings account. So far I have been given 4 different dates for the payout. The dates come and go with no payout. Now the payout is August 31. I somehow don't believe it. Three times I spent my own money expecting this money. I have had to pawn and borrow until my paycheck because of this. Doesn't anybody know anything for sure at this bank. I want my $300.00. I feel like a character from "Paper Moon". Don't get it, do you?

I have been banking with Citizens Bank a few months now. When I set up my account I was asked if I wanted the "opting in or out" option (bank over draft protection plan) I told them no I was not interested in that if I don't have the funds I don't want the charge covered. Today Citizens bank allowed a charge to process that I didn't have the funds AVAILABLE to cover!!!!! Now there telling me its my fault there are certain transactions that can go through... I was never advised of this and when I spoke with the BANK MANAGER she told me how her tellers have been there for years and they cover everything and she was a bit rude about it. I have no reason to lie nor would I lie on someone the information wasn't given and then she replied she wasn't there she cannot confirm. Ok you cant confirm what was or wasn't said cause you wasn't there but you can say you bankers been there 10 yrs. they advise of everything. They refused to help now in stuck with a negative balance along with over draft fees I cant cover. This is terrible i am highly disappointed I guess cause I live in the inner city I'm just another low life to them. This is how you treat your valued customer
