Complaint: I have a pending complaint against Fifth Third Bank, complaint XXXX. On Friday evening, XX/XX/2019, I attempted a transaction on my debit card. The card was denied. I tried again, the card was denied. I had nearly {$7000.00} in the bank. I called the bank, I was transferred three times and spent over two hours on the call. After two hours and seven minutes, I was connected to the dispute department at which time I learned via the representative that my bank account had been frozen due to the claim I filed for reimbursement of fraudulent activity. The bank refused an explanation as to why our account was frozen and would not explain to me why they had placed over a negative $ 16K fee/balance on my account. The fraud department supervisor ( XXXX ) would only transfer me to the fraud investigator 's voice mail ( XXXX ) something the bank previously stated was against bank policy. I filed a police report on the fraud and an officer has made an attempt to provide images of the thief ( s ) that corresponds to transaction receipts on my account. However, Fifth Third declined the images. Fraud has been proven. I received no notification that my account was being frozen. My account was frozen during late afternoon/early evening on a Friday afternoon, ensuring we would not have access to our funds during the weekend. We have no ability to access our funds in order to purchase fuel for our car or groceries for our family. This is an effort to intimidate and cause financial hardship on our family. The bank is engaging in predatory and retaliatory business practices and attempting to make us absorb the fraudulent activity we experienced through their bank.

Complaint: This is my second complaint to 5/3 regarding my mortgage. I have experienced nothing but incompetence bordering on negligence. I have follwed the process 3 times over the past 7 months for cancelling my PMI and consistenty am met with no response. I have submitted the form to have a XXXX XXXX XXXX on three occasions, have recieved email confirmation of the submission, and heard no response. When speaking to representatives in that department, I was told they never recieved any documentation and there was nothing they could do. The following is a timeline of my correspondence with 5/3, for which I have records. Complaint: My last hardship application filed in XX/XX/XXXXXXXX expired because I was unable to get my ex-wife to sign the application ; So on XX/XX/XXXX, I submitted another hardship application seeking mortgage hardship assistance. Meanwhile, I received a letter in the mail from 53 postmarked XX/XX/XXXXXXXX stating that 53 will only remove my ex-wife from the primary mortgage and the equity flex line 2nd mortgage if I refinance at today 's significantly higher interest rates. Fifth Third points out that... " Spouses ( XXXX XXXX, the husband ) who do not want to be included in the application process or listed on the Note or obligation to repay the debt, are required to sign the mortgage on the property, as well as a few other closing documents. As her spouse, you were required to sign the mortgage, the Waiver of Borrower 's Rights Rider, and the Notice of Right to Cancel at loan origination. As you signed these specific documents, we are able to provide you with copies. HOWEVER, WE ARE UNABLE TO PROVIDE YOU WITH ANY INFORMATION REGARDING THE EQUITY FLEXLINE. AS YOU ARE NOT A SIGNER OF THE NOTE ''. The issue here is that the equity flex line of credit 2nd mortgage is not in my name but I am willing to take responsibility for it if 53 removes her name from the loan and the primary mortgage. I should not be put in a position to have my home foreclosed on due to the flex line of credit ( that is not in my name ) delinquency that I could have refinanced during the 10 months it took 53 to let me know the status of my hardship application, which ironically resulted in a higher equity flex line payment. It makes no sense that I should have to refinance at the higher interest rates that exist in today 's market when I had the opportunity to refinance ( in order to remove my ex-wife 's name from the primary mortgage & the flex line of credit ) when rates were lower, but as a tradeoff, I waited for the status/results of the hardship application. It appears that Fifth Third deliberately refuses to acknowledge their negligence and exercise their duty of care to me as a customer. According to XXXX... There are two ways to remove an ex-spouse from a loan : Release and refinance... A lender may release the ex-spouse from the loan. If presented with a divorce decree and a quitclaim deed, many lenders will remove the ex-spouse and leave the loan in the name of one spouse only.

Horrific experience! I was [-] victim of fraud in [-], I filed 3 separate fraud packets ( one check was stolen from a [-] [-] box, washed and used 3x) I also filed a police report. Since [-] 17,2022 I have been waiting for [-] money to be refunded. I realize that $52,000 is not a great amount to 5/3; but to a 69 yo retiree is a life time savings. Dealing with [-] Dispute Resolution Department has been a nightmare, all they tell [-] is that they are waiting for [-] Bank (checks were deposited at their bank) I spoke with a representative at [-] that tells [-] that [-] bank needs to be contacting them to resolve this problem. I have experienced a lot of frustration dealing with 5/3.

Calls for help both in [-] local branch and their 800 help [-] have not helped and each time that fails we are told that [-] account is locked for 7 days and try again at that time. Worst bank we have EVER had in 50 plus years and worse customer service EVER.

I had a [-] [-] thru 3/5 bank After payoff, [-] Bank completely messed up [-] receiving of paperwork, refunds, and [-] title. You can't call this Bank without first speaking with someone in [-] Philippines, so to find [-] actual answer I was passed around many times.. I was lied to by Amar in [-] [-] department, and at this point am not sure when or if I [-] ever see [-] title to [-] Vehicle. Very frustrating experience.

Worst Customer Service I have experienced since dealing with Spectrum Cable. When you call you [-] immediately to being on hold, [-] music is awful. And no one ever answers. You call Corporate and [-] [-] says, "No one is available. Please try your call later. Oh [-] I [-] they sell [-] mortgage. I wouldn't give them one [-] but it's [-] least option there is.

Customer Service was very poor. I called and discussed 6 or 7 times with your representatives. Problem was I couldn't receive a text on [-] cell to get [-] one time codes, etc. I also visited a branch here in Indianapolis. [-] Customer Service reps seemed to be stuck on their "this is what you [-] [-]" and after multiple times trying, I was informed that I needed to wait another 14 days to reset or whatever. There was no explanation, but I assume [-] online [-] was locked due to [-] excess number of attempts. I have been with Fifth Third for many years and this lack of service is unacceptable. I [-] attempt one more visit to a branch. It is highly probable that I [-] terminate [-] account with your bank due to [-] aforementioned. This is really irritating as I [-] have to [-] a considerable amount of work with [-] [-] pays, [-] checking, cards, etc.

Unfavorable. I borrowed money and can’t [-] it. [-] bank has frozen [-] funds. I have no explanation. [-]’t [-] [-] with this bank! It gives you nothing on investment and thwarts your financial goals. I am going to try [-] corporate headquarters and see what happens.

I’ve been a member of Fifth Third for over 15 years now and this company recently started practicing a policy where their customer service department [-] not help you login into your online banking account, furthermore you [-] be told to wait up to 24 hours before login, plus if you [-] not have a working phone their banking system [-] not verify you, so again you are denied [-] to your account. I know other banking institutions have systems in place that [-] [-] who you are weather or not you have a working phone. I think Fifth Third Bank has become a fifth third lessor than other banking institutions. They are a little slower than other banking companies in [-] opinion.

Your branch made take [-] shoes off I have steel toe. I explained I have a bad back and can’t bend over to put them back on. I became arrogant. Was going to take out $25,000 as I am buying a different boat but instead I with free $90,000. Instead [-] branch at 15 and Broadway in Louisville [-] is a [-]. We looked into refinancing it was a bait and switch . We were given [-] wrong payment amount even after we questioned her. We were given [-] wrong closing cost amount also . I was given a personal banker although never hearing from her after opening account years ago . I am closing all accounts. They’re literally robbing people blind, Nothing but scams to get money out of you for fee’s. I payed [-] credit card and they overdrew [-] account for [-] amount I payed [-] credit card for. [-] not deal with this bank. I have had account with them over 2o yrs and had [-] same checks that I got then. I found out [-] act. # on them doesn't exist. Yet they have honored checks I wrote on them over 20 years. Now they are returning [-] payments and I have late payments now. Also they are saying I have 2 checking acts I closed and 1 savings I closed over these years. I have never closed any acct. Never had a savings acct with them. [-] not [-] [-] with them. I am still trying to get things fixed. They CAN'T explain to [-] what [-] heck is going on or [-] they could [-] checks that [-]'t have [-] right acct number on them. NO ONE HAS ANY ANSWERS OR REALLY LISTENS. THEY JUST SAY WELL YOUR NAME IS PRINTED ON [-] CHECKS. SCARY ANYONE COULD [-] YOUR INFO ON CHECKS THEY WRITE THEMSELVES CHECKS AND [-] THEM.

Worst service. [-] wife passed away and they held 2 checks. Now, I realize that [-] month she passed they needed to send one of those back. But when I went in to check on [-] amount withheld from [-] account. [-] bank employee discovered that 2 checks were sent back when was supposed to [-] back to [-] account. After her discovery, we went into [-] office to check on [-] finding. She [-] I'm not going to cover up for corporate office it slipped through their hands. This company is [-] worst. [-] mortgage is through this company and they can’t ever seem to get things right. I’m not enrolled in autopay yet [-] mortgage payment came out twice when I only put it through once. This caused [-] overdraft in [-] bank account. I went through [-] drive through on Friday 2/12/2021 and gave [-] teller a $2000 check. I asked him to give [-] $600 in [-] and deposit [-] rest in [-] account. [-] never deposited [-] [-] money . [-] daughter who is 19 went to this institution to [-] a savings account with preexisting funds that she had saved in another banking system. [-] branch manager and other employees accused us of fraud!! They received [-] funds from [-] other banking institution but would not release [-] funds or allow [-] to her just opened savings account. It took myself to get involved. [-] branch manager at this bank was rude discriminatory and unwilling to help or listen to us which were her own words. Very very poor service. It took [-] to make phone calls to their people to get [-] daughter funds released. A week worth of hassle. I [-] never deal with 5/3 again. I [-] be seeing who I can personally make a complaint with.

I went to this 5/3 bank and [-] young [-] [-] [-] was rude, [-] was Discriminating. I went to withdrawal money out and I gave him [-] ID [-] [-] it [-]’t look like [-], then turn around and ask where did [-] money come from in [-] account. [-] asked was it a [-] or what I told him no [-] then went to just [-] on and in about [-] [-] picture [-]’t look like [-] and need to forms of ID. Then [-] was passing ID around asking [-] staff [-] this look like her. [-] turn to say [-] have to call [-] last person that deposit in [-] account for verification and when it was direct deposit into [-] account. I [-] be moving forward with this complaint and Discrimination.

I tried to buy a piece of furniture via phone purchase at [-] store. I tried to use [-] debit card for [-] purchase. [-] card was declined because it triggered a fraud alert. I was not upset and understood [-] alert. I contacted [-] fraud [-] and was told everything was fine. I attempted again about [-] hour later and again, a fraud alert. I called [-] fraud [-] again and was told everything was ok to purchase. I attempted once again and another fraud alert. I tried to call for [-] third time and [-] was closed. [-] next morning [-] fraud [-] told [-] there was nothing they could [-] to help [-]. I would not accept this answer. I am perplexed that I had done [-] due diligence but yet I could not spend [-] money as I needed to. I spoke with a supervisor and she cleared [-] hold and I was finally able to purchase [-] item. Why does it take 4 phone calls and time to get this issue resolved? Why [-] your service reps feel that they cannot help [-] is [-] acceptable answer?

They accepted [-] 395.00 for a refinance [-]. After 85 days they asked for all [-] needed documents again, for [-] third time. No way could [-] [-] be completed by 90 days of locked in rate. I asked for a refund of 395.00 and they denied it. Complete ineptness.

1 [-] is being generous for [-] incompetent way our mortgage [-] was handled by [-] Mistal at [-] Elmhurst, [-] branch! Everyone involved in [-] sale of our home and purchase of [-] house is extremely upset with [-]! When anyone asked him if our [-] processing was on time for closing date [-] always [-] yes!! Up to 2 days before closing we were still waiting for our ctc through no fault of ours! We have excellent credit score and supplied all paperwork requested immediately to him! [-] had [-] wrong closing date on [-] [-] closure [-] that we brought to his attention immediately! We [-]’t know if [-] ever corrected that date! Our closing date was changed at [-] last minute and changed from 10/30/20 to 11/3/20! Then it was changed again at last minute to 11/5/20! Each time [-] changed it we had to find a different mover! After changing it to 11/5/20 we had no choice but to change to a last minute mover that cost us $500 more than before and also had to pay another month rental fee for our PID storage unit of $195! We are senior citizens in our 70’s and this is a lot of money which was caused by [-] and 5/3 Bank! We had our previous mortgage with 5/3 for many years and as a loyal customer we stayed with them for our current [-]!! BIG MISTAKE!! We [-] not recommend using 5/3 Bank for your loans or mortgages! It was [-] worst experience for buying our [-] house that it could be! We regret staying with 5/3 Bank for our [-] mortgage and would not recommend to anyone looking for a good lender! This was a horrible experience!!

TERRIBLE WAIT TIMES!!! Called because they were supposed to send [-] a [-] debit card 2 MONTHS AGO and still [-]'t received it. As I am writing this review I have been on hold for 24 minutes and counting. For all [-] fees that this bank charges you would think they could answer calls a lot faster and [-] cards out in a timely manner. Run for your lives, if you [-] any type of online banking with 53rd please stop.
Their I T Department is horrible and their system is antiquated.
[-] accounts have been frozen now for 2 weeks and have wasted now over 7 hours at [-] local bank and online just to retrieve [-] login/password which somehow [-] IT department changed. I'm writing this at [-] bank as we speak.
Looks like I'm going too close [-] accounts. Even [-] bank branch cannot even get a hold of their I T Department.

[-] mortgage department is a train wreck. Another Realtor and I have been have been waiting for over 80 days for them to clear a home [-]. It's supposedly been [-] status on [-] underwriters desk for almost a week. We have 3 individual families who's lives have been on hold for 3 months and 5/3rd keeps dragging their feet. From a customer service perspective there are people and processes in place to resolve issues, [-] issue required escalating to [-] supervisor but once in their hands they were able to work on it and solve it beyond [-] initial expectations. As for [-] way [-] bank itself goes about [-], I have some doubts they have their customers' best interests in mind given some of [-] random fees and restrictions on [-] account. Overall they seem like a [-] bank and I'll [-] them as [-] option for future banking.

This is [-] second time I have had to deal with your third party FIS for a online [-] [-] pay. If [-] payee doesn't enter [-] amount correctly [-] payment gets denied. Last time I had to call 53rd online every day for 3 months to get [-] money back $5,000 so I could resubmit it to a vender. It happened again last week for $9,000. I [-] not want to wait for [-] money for 3 months, while [-] vendors won't ship [-] stuff. I feel this it a failure in your online backing. It has been a week already and I feel I should have [-] money back in [-] account. No one can help [-] all they say is its being worked on. This part of your online banking needs to be fixed!!!!!

On [-] 19, I went to [-] favorite 5/3 Bank branch location at [-] Place in Perrysburg, [-] (a shout out to [-] and [-] and all [-] tellers!). It was Friday and it closed at 2pm! I read [-] note, and it [-] 5/3 Bank had closed early on [-] 19, out of respect for Juneteenth. I have no problem with Juneteenth or any other holiday, except that this is not a federally recognized holiday, yet. Are you aware that [-] children who are rioting in [-] streets and burning down businesses are not from Black Lives Matter? They are Antifa and other anarchists. So. 5/3 Bank, as a corporation, was not honoring black lives; you were obeying [-] demands and threats of [-] anarchist organization. Be careful who is demanding your obedience and respect.

I received a call from 5/3rd risk department and they advised [-] they are closing [-] account due to high risk. I asked what is it that’s a high risk besides that I had fraudulent charges on [-] account and that’s all they would tell [-]. Now I know they were reviewing [-] account because of in and out transactions and I didn’t even get a [-] to explain to them that I took time off of work because [-] father was dying from cancer and that [-] atm transactions were odd because I had to put money in [-] bank when I could to pay [-] bills while I was at home taking care of [-] father as [-] was passing. That to [-] shows a lack of compassion for [-] honest working person like myself taking time off of work to take care of [-] dying father whom had cancer and by [-] way was a VETERAN from [-] Marines.
Also they questioned [-] about where I was getting money from because it looked suspicious and o still tried to explain that [-] father was passing so it was money that [-] had put away to make sure his children were taken care of. So 5/3rd decides to close [-] account and tell [-] they [-] not want [-] as a customer anymore because [-] account is a “high risk” mind you I have never had [-] issue with a bank before and never have been questioned like I am a criminal or doing something immorally wrong. Now when I call to check on [-] fraud case that I opened I get treated like I’m nothing to them because [-] account is closed and I have 35 days to get everything out of [-] account otherwise they [-] just close it with [-] opened disputes/fraud case against [-] account. I would never [-] [-] with a bank that does not have any compassion, knowledge of someone personal life, or plainly just telling someone well you are a high risk so we [-]’t want you as a customer. Mind you I am a [-] Manager of a Automotive dealership and they question where [-] money is coming from. So if you are [-] honest worker and [-] take money out of your account or put money in at various ATM I would not use 5/3rd because they [-] just kick you to [-] curb and tell you they [-] not want you as a customer no matter what [-] circumstances are. [-] father passed away as a fighting VETERAN MARINE from cancer on [-] 20th but I guess 5/3rd does not care about Veterans or why someone’s activity on their account [-] look suspicious.

I would not bank with this bank if it was [-] last bank on this earth!!! For a month [-] account has been on a fraud hold and [-] person who was supposed to get in contact with [-] to fix [-] issue so I can pay [-] bills never did!!! Fifth Third, [-] bank claiming to be a 5/3 "better", has [-] absolute worst Customer Service group that I have ever worked with. Based on [-] experience with them today, I have come to [-] conclusion that Niedra, [-], [-] 1M0C3AM are either ignorant, lazy or some combination thereof when it comes to resolving [-] specific issue that I incurred today. These representatives responded to [-] issue stating that they required 3 days to address [-] issue of [-] not being able to [-] [-] account online. [-] in mind that if I were to [-] a [-] account at Fifth Third today, I would have immediate [-] online to [-] information. So, why would I have to wait 3 days to get a response to [-] issued that I experienced today? Because they are simply lazy or ignorant. I called back and spoke with another representative 30 minutes later. DayShawn was in fact able to resolve [-] issue with a very simple fix. Thanks to DayShawn for thinking and acting like a professional as opposed to [-] attitude of passing [-] [-] and leaving [-] customer helpless without even trying to resolve [-] issue. I [-] be closing [-] account as soon as possible due to this experience.

They dont deserve not even one [-], I couldn't remove that one [-] from this review. Mortgage department is terrible one error after another. If you are thinking of getting a mortgage with this bank run [-] other way. I have never experienced such ineptitude and so many errors with any other bank as I have with this one. They can't understand [-] policies, or identify documentation. And, they expect [-] customers to read and understand it? They provide online banking services, but have to use US postal system to distribute information that reasonably should be available online.
